Bolton coronavirus measures

Updated: 7pm Saturday 5 September

Rates of coronavirus infection have continued to increase in Bolton and, as a result, new guidance has been introduced to stop the spread of the virus in the community and prevent the need for a local lockdown.

With immediate effect, people living in Bolton must not:

  • Socialise with anyone from outside their household, either within or outside Bolton. This means that social activities indoors and outdoors can only be shared with people that you live with and in your immediate household. This does not, however, apply to social bubbles.

  • Use public transport except for essential travel. You must now only make trips that are absolutely necessary for work, school, to get supplies, to care for others or for medical reasons. Please drive, cycle or walk instead and only use public transport if you have no other option.

You must also remember to wear a face covering when using the public transport network, including at transport hubs and interchanges, unless you are exempt. If you don’t, you may be unable to travel and you could be fined £100.
