Updated: 12pm Tuesday 31 March

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office now advises British people against all non-essential travel worldwide.

As a result of reduced air travel, all remaining flights now depart from Terminal 1 between 8am and 4pm.

While the airport will remain open for staff throughout the day, hours to the public will be between 6am and 6pm.

There will also be a number of changes to public transport services serving Manchester Airport. It's important that you plan for your journey and follow the advice below.

Rail

A reduced frequency timetable is now in place across rail services. Information on these is available here.

It is important to plan your journey and make sure your train is running. Please check the status of your journey with National Rail before travelling.

Bus

New reduced-frequency bus timetables have now been introduced across Greater Manchester.

View the latest timetable information here and check the status of your journey with your operator before travelling.

Metrolink

Metrolink have introduced a 20-minute service across the whole network.

  • From Monday to Saturday trams will run from 6am until 10pm.
  • On Sundays, trams will run from 7am to 10pm.

Some services may run slightly earlier/ later than the above core service hours at the start and end of service.

Please check the times for your journey.

You can hop on the Airport tram from several stops in Manchester City Centre. All Metrolink lines across Greater Manchester allow easy connectivity to the Airport Line.

Road

The Airport is easily accesible by car. The best way to the Airport is via the M56 which is connected to the M60, M56 and M62.

Drivers should leave the M56 at Junction 5 and join the Airport Spur Road. Continue on the Airport Spur and follow the signs for Terminal 1. Local signage will direct you to arrivals, departures, drop-off locations and both long stay and short stay car parks.

If you are travelling from the east of Greater Manchester the quickest way to get to Terminal 1 at the Airport is via the A555. If you are coming from Hazel Grove, Stockport, Gatley, Cheadle and Didsbury areas use this route for a quicker journey.
