Coronavirus: Advice to businesses and employees

Updated 4pm Monday 18 May

Coronavirus has affected all aspects of our lives, including how we travel.

Ensuring our transport network can operate safely while also supporting our economic recovery will be a significant challenge that will require TfGM, transport operators, local councils, businesses and other organisations to work together. This will include reducing travel at peak times, increasing walking and cycling and supporting more people to work from home.

Current Travel Advice

  • Work from home, but if you cannot you can travel to your workplace.
  • If you need to travel, walk, cycle or drive if you can.
  • Protect public transport for those with no alternative – do not use it unless you have to.
  • If you have to use public transport wear a face covering, keep your distance from other passengers, clean your hands frequently and use contactless payment if possible.

TfGM can provide advice and guidance to businesses looking to help their employees travel safely, including flexible working and increasing walking and cycling. Please contact sustainable.journeys@tfgm.com to see how we can work together.

We are also producing a regular travel advice for businesses and employees to keep you up-to-date with the latest government guidance.
