Intu Trafford Centre

Cinemas, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities have reopened at the Intu Trafford Centre. There is still reduced capacity on public transport due to social distancing measures.

It is really important for people who are going to work or those who are going out for a social occasion to think how they are going to travel, and especially how they are going to get home afterwards.

If you are planning a trip to the Intu Trafford Centre, cycle or drive if you can. Consider all other travel options before using public transport.

If you do use public transport, remember you must wear a face covering, unless you are exempt. It is your responsibility to provide this, and it can be a simple scarf or bandana. Exemptions include children under the age of 11 and anyone with a disability or condition which means they are unable to wear one.

Below is a breakdown of the transport information and advice for the Intu Trafford Centre to help you make smart and safe travel choices 👇.


Travelling before 11am - Limited capacity

  • Please consider all other travel options before using public transport.
  • Please cycle, walk or drive instead, if you can.

Travelling from the north of the Intu Trafford Centre via Bus

There is limited capacity on bus services arriving from the Bolton, Wigan, Manchester and Salford areas between 7am and 10am.

Travel advice

  • Before leaving home, plan your journey on bus operators' travel apps - some have live capacity information.
  • Cycling may be quicker. Cycling from Eccles to the Trafford Centre takes 10 minutes.
  • Drive.

Travelling from the south of the Intu Trafford Centre via Bus

Travel advice

  • There is slightly more capacity on bus services from the Altrincham, Chorlton, Stretford and Urmston areas between 7am and 10am. Click here for timetables.
  • Cycling from Urmston - 10 minutes, Stretford - 15 minutes and Chorlton - 20 minutes may be a quicker option.

Metrolink

Metrolink services are operating every 10 minutes from 6am onwards direct to the Trafford Centre. If you travel before 7am there is an Early Bird ticketing offer. Click here for more information.


Travelling between 11am and 7pm – Limited capacity and road congestion expected

Public transport passenger numbers and road journeys have increased since 15 June and the busiest part of the day on the network is now from around 12pm leading up to the early evening.

Traffic heading to the Intu Trafford Centre, local areas/attractions and retail outlets have increased, leading to longer journey times and queues. The traffic hotspots are shown on the map below. To avoid being caught in traffic retiming or rerouting your journey could save time behind the wheel - some of the tips below might help also.

Travel advice

  • Cycling from the local areas of Eccles - 10 minutes, Urmston - 10 minutes, Stretford- 15 minutes and Chorlton - 20 minutes may be a quicker option. There are cycle racks located at all main entrances for you to store your bike.

  • There are still buses running from Bolton, Wigan, Manchester, Altrincham, Chorlton, Stretford and Urmston and Salford and other areas, but capacity is reduced for social distancing. Consider all other travel options before using public transport.

  • If you do need to use public transport, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. Some bus operators have travel apps and live capacity information.

  • Drive to the Intu Trafford Centre but plan your journey before you leave home. Follow @OfficialTfGM for live updates of traffic conditions and car park capacity updates. When arriving at the Trafford Centre follow signage and staff on the ground for directions of where to park.

  • If you do have to drive, be aware that car parking may be limited and you may have to queue during this busy period.

  • For occasional journeys consider taxis and private hire services as an alternative to public transport.

Travelling after 7pm and late evening travel advice/service updates

It's really important for people who are going to work, or those who are going out for a social occasion, to think about how they are going to travel and especially how they are going to get home afterwards. Some buses and trams don't operate as late as they used to and many services don't operate after 10pm. 👇
