Coronavirus: Travel information and advice

Updated: 1pm Sunday 29 March

Do not travel unless it is absolutely essential - stay at home to protect the NHS and to save lives.

Public transport should only be used for trips that are absolutely necessary for work, to get supplies, to care for others or for medical reasons.

Do not make unnecessary journeys – walk or exercise once a day in open spaces near to your home where possible.

Train, tram and bus services have been reduced, however services are still running for key workers.

If you have to make an essential journey, check timetables before you travel.

Wash your hands before and after your journey, cough or sneeze into a tissue and use contactless payments if possible.

Bus stations and interchanges are opening for reduced hours and Travelshops are now closed (apart from Eccles and Altrincham, which currently remain open) – customers can use online services or call the contact centre on 0161 244 1000.

A small number of TfGM school bus services are running to schools which remain open, and for the children of key workers only.

Further changes are likely next week – continue to check this page for the latest travel info and advice.
