Coronavirus: Travel information and advice

Updated: 10am Monday 14 September

Bolton and Oldham coronavirus restrictions

Rates of coronavirus infection remain high in Bolton and Oldham, and local restrictions are in place.

You should not meet with anyone from outside your household or use public transport except for essential travel.

Greater Manchester local coronavirus restrictions

For people who live in Bury, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Tameside and Trafford, you should continue to follow Government rules when meeting people who you don’t live with.

Residents of Stockport and Wigan are no longer subject to the above regulations.

For further information on local restrictions, visit the government’s North of England local coronavirus restrictions page.

Travel guidance

It’s just as important as ever to help keep yourself and everyone safe when you’re outside the home by thinking about how and when you travel and following safety guidance.

You can use public transport (please see Bolton and Oldham restrictions above for specific guidance for using public transport in these areas) but please consider active travel options such as cycling and walking.

You must wear a face covering when using the public transport network, including at transport hubs and interchanges, unless you are exempt. If you don’t, you may be unable to travel and you could be fined £100. Read our face coverings guidance.
