GM-Walking-Festival-Large-1

Walking is a great way to get around Greater Manchester, explore the city-region and to improve your health.

In 2018, to encourage more people to try it, we delivered the fourth Greater Manchester Walking Festival. Running throughout May the festival offered 369 walks across all ten local authorities in the city-region.

More than 5,000 participants took part in last year’s festival, with walks ranging from an easy-on-the-legs family story ramble through the Wigan countryside to a more challenging evening trek around Blackstone Edge to watch the sun set.

There were also some more quirky and imaginative walks, such as a stroll around Peel Park with a bat detector or a wheelchair-friendly mountain trike ramble around Dovestone Reservoir.
