Please note that at the moment we are only running a limited programme and these sessions are not currently available
Who's it for?
This is for you if you're a professional driver who wants to understand, and be more aware of, cyclists.
What you'll learn
Through a mixture of conventional training, and by riding a bike out on the road, you will learn:
- Awareness of risks to vulnerable road users.
- How to assess dangerous situations and avoid accidents.
- How to use your mirrors and avoid blind spots.
- Highway code rules.
- About the best lighting and reflective material.
This full-day session, run by qualified instructors, gives you the skills and awareness to be safe in traffic, around bikes and other vulnerable road-users, and to experience the road from a cyclist's point-of-view.
The course is accredited by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) and the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), and can contribute to your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
What you need
We provide a bike but you can bring your own if you prefer and wear clothes you’ll be comfortable cycling in.
Where?
Openshaw, Manchester.
How long?
Each session is a full day.
What our attendees say
"Great course, I enjoyed the cycling aspect and the instructors explained issues with cyclists clearly."
"Really enjoyed the course, we did the course in order for the company to obtain FORS Silver certification but have recommended to the company that everyone not just HGV drivers should also do the course as we found it could be used for team building generally."
