This is one of six ‘Cycleways’ in Greater Manchester: new routes that give cyclists more space on traffic-free paths, quiet roads, and special lanes separated from the traffic.
Running from Broughton in Salford to the heart of Manchester, this is the longest ‘segregated’ cycle route in the country. Special traffic islands and bollards keep you physically separated from the traffic in both directions, giving you safe access into the city along Great Clowes Street and Blackfriars Road. You can take another branch to Salford university and cathedral. There is secure bike parking at the Cycle Hub at Salford Central rail station not far from the end of the route.
