Metrolink will be the best way to get to and from the event on the day - all lines go to the heart of the action.
The closest tram stop to the event is St Peter's Square, with Market Street and Deansgate also just a short walk away.
On the same day, at 1pm, Manchester City face Fulham. Tram services are expected to be particularly busy from 11am until 12.30pm and from 2.45pm to 4pm. We recommend that visitors to the parade try to avoid using the Piccadilly and Piccadilly Gardens stops around this time - Use St Peters Square, Market Street or Exchange Square - All within walking distance of the action!
With fast and frequent services arriving into the City Centre from all over Greater Manchester - The Bus is a great way to travel to enjoy the festivities!
Piccadilly and Shudehill Bus stations are within walking distance of the event to get you close to the action!
During the event some bus services will be on diversion from 11am to 4pm as the Chinese New Year Parade takes place.
Bus operators will always have the latest information about their services. Follow them on Twitter for service details.
Bypass the traffic and hop on your bike for the year of the rat! Cycling is a great way to venture into the city and is good for your wellbeing!
If travelling from South Manchester use the segregated cycleways on Oxford Road to head in and out of the city. It’s quick, easy and healthy! Perfect for all the family!
There are even safe and secure cycle storage facilities in the city centre.
To the west of Manchester there is a new safe cycle route in Trafford which follows Talbot Road down to Stretford Road before joining Oxford Road - right next to the parade route!
The event is easily accessible on foot from all areas of the city centre. If you live locally skip past the traffic queues and enjoy a brisk walk and take in some of Manchester’s great sights as you do!
If travelling by Metrolink or bus, why not hop off a stop earlier than usual and walk the remainder, great for your health and to get those steps in!
Due to road closures for the event and major road works ongoing around the city centre, it is advised to use public transport or walk/cycle to the event.
