Arrive at the Ashton Moss and Ashton West Park and Ride sites early as they are expected to be busier than usual.

Manchester City host Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday 16 October (Kick-off 3pm).

If you're travelling to watch the fixture our key advice is:

  • Journey times will increase on Mancunian Way (eastbound), Ashton New Road, Ashton Old Road, Hyde Road and Alan Turing Way from 1pm to 3pm and from 5pm to 6pm. Consider re-routing your journey outside of these hours.
  • Consider walking or cycling when you are making shorter trips either to the game or travelling around the local area. It could be a quicker option for you on the day of the game.
  • A 12-minute Double Metrolink service will be operating to the Etihad on the Ashton line. City centre stops will also be much busier than normal in the build up to the game. Allow extra time for a more comfortable journey.

Metrolink services to the match

Services operate to Etihad Campus on the Ashton line.

The journey from Manchester Piccadilly station to the stadium takes less than 10 minutes.

After the game, trams will not serve Holt Town and Velopark until crowds have cleared from the Etihad Campus stop.


Supporters should use contactless for payments, it's a quick and easy way to pay. Just remember to touch-in and touch-out!

If you're travelling by Metrolink as a family, you can save money with our family travelcard which allows travel for one to three children (aged under 16) accompanied by one or two adults.

Not going to the match?

Please be aware that Metrolink services will be busier between 1pm and 3pm before the match and from 5pm to 6.30pm after the match. It's likley you may have to queue to board a service at certain stops during this period.

If you are able to, consider travelling outside of these busiest times for a more comfortable journey.

Park and Ride

Park and Ride facilities will be open, are free and Metrolink services go direct to the Etihad Stadium.

Two Park and Ride sites are conveniently located close to M60 Junction 23.

From these stops the journey time to the stadium is less than 25 minutes.

Park up early

Due to the Ashton v Chesterfield match kicking off at the same time the Park & Rides in Ashton are expected to be busier than normal and spaces may be sparce - Arrive early to avoid dissapointment.


Journey times will increase on Mancunian Way (eastbound), Ashton New Road, Ashton Old Road, Hyde Road and Alan Turing Way two hours before the match.

If you’re travelling to the game or driving around the local area, take an alternative route or re-time your journey to before 1pm or after 5pm to avoid the delays.

A strictly-enforced resident parking scheme is in place on the streets around the ground, which is made clear through on-street signage.

Several roads around the stadium may be closed for approximately 20 minutes after the match to allow pedestrians to leave.

Official car parks

Supporters should be aware that all official car park spaces have to be booked in advance. Please visit the Manchester City website for further information.


The Etihad Stadium is easily accessed on foot from all local areas.

We are encouraging everyone who is within a 30-minute walk of the stadium to make their journey to the match on foot

There is a safe, well-lit and signposted walking route from Manchester Piccadilly Station to the stadium. Follow the Etihad Campus banners and ‘City Link’ signs to the ground, with the walk taking approximately 25 minutes. Click here for the walking map.

Bus services

On match day, the 216 is the most frequent service which runs directly to the stadium. You'll find the service at the north side of Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre.

Services are expected to be busier from 1.30pm prior to and after 5pm following the game. You you may prefer to walk to stadium which is only a 25-minute walk from the city centre.

The 53, 76, 217, 219, 230 and 231 bus services also serve the Etihad Stadium, most within a short stroll of the ground.


At the Etihad Stadium there are more than 100 cycle racks for you to park your bike.

The Ashton cycleway is a completely traffic-free six-mile route which takes you along the canal towpath between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester city centre via the National Cycling Centre and Etihad Stadium.

The path has been resurfaced to make it easy for cycling and has solar-powered lights to guide you in the dark.
