Metrolink

Due to the Chinese New Year festival and parade taking place in the city centre supporters heading to the match should avoid changing and boarding servcies at St Peters Square as it will be very busy (there may even be a dragon on the loose!)

Use Deansgate Castlefield to change services and Piccadilly Gardens/Piccadilly to board services towards the stadium.

Services every six minutes to the match!

A fast and frequent tram service runs straight to the stadium’s dedicated tram stop, Etihad Campus.

Services run between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester run at six-minute intervals. The journey from Manchester Piccadilly station to the stadium takes less than 10 minutes.

After the game, trams will not serve Holt Town and Velopark until crowds have cleared from the Etihad Campus stop

Park and Ride

Leave the car and hop on the tram to the match!

Park and Ride facilities will be open and Metrolink services go direct to the Etihad Stadium.

Two Park and Ride sites are conveniently located close to M60 Junction 23.

  • Ashton Moss with 200 spaces (Alexandria Drive, Ashton, OL6 7UB)
  • Ashton West with 194 spaces (Lord Sheldon Way, Ashton, OL7 0PG)

From these stops the journey time to the stadium is less than 25 minutes.

Bus

On match day, the 216 operates at an increased frequency and runs directly to the stadium. You'll find the service at the north side of Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre.

The 53, 76, 216, 217, 219, 230 and 231 bus services all serve the Etihad Stadium, most within a short stroll of the ground.

At the end of the game, shuttle buses head towards Manchester city centre. They will be lined up on Ashton New Road opposite the South Stand.

Walking

The Etihad Stadium is easily accessed on foot from all local areas.

There is also a safe, well-lit and signposted walking route from Manchester Piccadilly Station to the stadium. Follow the Etihad Campus banners and ‘City Link’ signs to the ground, with the walk taking approximately 25 minutes.

Driving

Journey times will increase on Mancunian Way (eastbound), Ashton New Road, Ashton Old Road, Hyde Road and Alan Turing Way two hours before the match. If you’re travelling to the game or driving in the area take an alternative route or re-time your journey to avoid the delays.

A strictly-enforced resident parking scheme is in place on the streets around the ground, which is made clear through on-street signage.

To avoid the traffic and car park costs, why not travel on foot, by Metrolink or by bus.

Several roads around the stadium will also be closed for approximately 20 minutes after the match to allow pedestrians to leave. Roads closed are as follows:

  • Ashton New Road - between Alan Turing Way and Darley Street
  • Grey Mare Lane - between Ashton New Road and Alan Turing Way
  • Merrill Street - between Pollard Street and Ashton New Road

Train

Manchester is well served by rail, so why not beat the matchday traffic and take the train! Ashbury's is the closest station to the stadium and only a 15 minute walk. Journeys from Manchester Piccadilly only take 5 minutes.

The stadium is also only a short walk (20 minutes) or Metrolink ride (10 minutes) from Piccadilly Station in the city centre.

Important Information: Many Port Vale supporters are expected to arrive and depart Manchester by Train. Manchester Piccadilly station will be very busy before and after the match so allow extra time to travel through the station and board services

Cycling

Of course you can cycle to the match!

At the Etihad Stadium there are more than 100 cycle racks for you to park your bike.

The Ashton cycleway is a completely traffic-free six-mile route which takes you along the canal towpath between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester city centre via the National Cycling Centre and Etihad Stadium.

The path has been resurfaced to make it easy for cycling and has solar-powered lights to guide you in the dark.
