On Sunday 23 February, planned engineering work will be taking place at East Didsbury all day.

During this time there will be no tram services between East Didsbury and Deansgate-Castlefield.

Rochdale services will terminate at Deansgate-Castlefield.

Bus replacement services will operate to all stops in both directions.

East Didsbury Shuttle service

In order to assist supporters travelling to the game, Metrolink will be running a direct shuttle service to Old Trafford from East Didsbury park and ride.

This service will run before and after the game in addition to the normal bus replacement service (calling at all stops) to Deansgate Castlefield.

Supporters will be able to travel on this service with their normal Metrolink ticket.


If you usually catch the tram from East Didsbury to the game, it maybe worth you switching to train for the first half of your journey.

Trains run from East Didsbury to Manchester Piccadilly roughy once an hour on a Sunday.

From there, you can then hop on the tram to complete the second stage of your journey to Old Trafford.

You can purchase a combined Rail to Metrolink ticket from East Didsbury to Old Trafford. This costs £6.70 for an Adult return ticket and £3.20 for a Child return ticket.

Please remember to plan ahead if you're making the connection into Manchester as services are expected to be busier than normal. You can check out specific rail times here.


Did you know close to 1,000 supporters can travel every hour to the game by bus? That's right!

The 255, 256, 263 and x50 bus services run within walking distance of Old Trafford. Hop on the bus and beat the traffic!

After the match you can take a dedicated Shuttle Bus back to the City Centre. The buses depart from A56 Chester Road at the junction of Sir Matt Busby Way. Staff will be in place to assist and the journey back into the City Centre will only take 10 - 15 minutes - Perfect!

Park and Ride

Leave the car and hop on the tram to the match!

Park and Ride facilities are free to use and Metrolink services go within walking distance of Old Trafford. All services from the below locations take around 15 minutes.

  • Brooklands with 108 spaces – Marsland Road/Brooklands Road, M33 3SQ
  • Sale Water Park with 300 spaces – Rifle Road, M33 2LX
  • Ladywell with 250 spaces – Eccles New Road, Eccles, M6 8HD


Journey times will increase on the Mancunian Way, A56 Chester Road, Trafford Road, Wharfside Way and surrounding areas from 12.30pm until kick-off and in the hour after the match, including on the M60 between Junctions 11 and 5. Re-time your journey or take alternative routes if driving in the area.

After the match the A56 Chester Road will be closed at the junction of Warwick Road to allow the crowd to safely disperse. Non match going traffic will divert via Talbot Road in both directions.

A strictly-enforced resident parking scheme is in place on the streets around Old Trafford, which is made clear through on-street signage.

To avoid the traffic and car park costs, travel on foot, by Metrolink or by bus.


Old Trafford is easily accesible on foot from local areas - beat the traffic and take a stroll to and from the match.

Several Metrolink stops are all also within a short walk of the ground.


You can cycle to the game!

If you are travelling to Old Trafford by bicycle, there are free cycle racks located at the following car parks:

  • N2 (Sir Alex Ferguson Stand)
  • E2 (East Stand)
  • W2 (West Stand)

Bicycles must not be secured in any other areas across the stadium site at any time. Bicycles secured outside of authorised cycle racks will be promptly removed, which may result in damage for which the club will not be held liable.
