- Emirates Old Trafford
- Saturday 11 June 2022 from 4:00pm to 10:15pm
- Impacted area(s)
Stretford, Old Trafford, A56 Chester Road, Altrincham Metrolink Line
Trams will be busy from 4pm until 8pm and again at the end of the concert at around 10.15pm.
Manchester won't be a Quiet Town on Saturday 11 June with events taking place across the region.
The Killers perform at Emirates Old Trafford (doors opening at 4pm) while Ed Sheeran performs at the Etihad, Alicia Keys at the AO Arena and Parklife taking place at Heaton Park.
With close to 50,000 people attending the concert (and 150,000 attending the other three events), it's essential that you plan ahead to avoid being caught in traffic, you don’t want to miss singing along to the iconic Mr Brightside!
Going to sing-along with The Killers?
Getting to Emirates Old Trafford by tram couldn’t be easier. Have Piece Of Mind that we’ve included all the ways to get there!
Trams on the Altrincham line operate to Old Trafford which is directly next to the stadium.
However, with so many people going to the concert, services will be very busy so you may want to Change Your Mind and walk to another stop before or after the concert to avoid the crowds.
There are several stops within a short walking distance of the venue.
So you may want to consider using alternative stops which are within walking distance of the stadium. This is particularly true after the match where it may be quicker to walk to one of these stops than wait at Old Trafford:
- Trafford Bar A 10-minute walk away. Board an East Didsbury line or Manchester Airport line service for this stop.
- Firswood. A 10-minute walk away. Board an East Didsbury line or Manchester Airport line service from this stop.
- Wharfside A 15-minute walk away. Board a tram on the Trafford Park line.
The Trafford Park will be quieter than other lines. Supporters can park for free at Parkway Park and Ride and board the tram to Wharfside.
Not going to the concert? If you can travel flexibly, board your service before 5pm for a quieter trip with more space on board. Click here for the latest data showing when services are busy
Attendees should use contactless for payments, it's the safe and easy way to pay. Just remember to touch-in and touch-out!
Park and Ride
Leave the car and hop on the tram to the match!
Smile Like You Mean It knowing that our Park and Ride facilities are free to use and Metrolink services go within walking distance of Emirates Old Trafford. All services from the below locations take around 15 minutes.
Driving (to sing-along with The Killers)
Journey times will increase on A56 Chester Road, Trafford Road, Talbot Road, Wharfside Way and surrounding areas before and after the concert.
The Killers's fans can also park their cars at Old Trafford Football ground, a ten minute walk away from Emirates Old Trafford - simply pay on arrival.
Driving (but not going to the concert)
Take Caution as congestion is expected on the roads around the ground in the run up to the concert and across the wider region.
With Alicia Keys hitting the stage at AO Arena (doors open at 6.30pm - curfew at 11pm), Ed Sheeran at the Etihad (doors open at 5pm - curfew at 11pm), Parklife at Heaton Park (starting at 11am - curfew at 11pm), we are expecting Manchester city centre to get busy, which is going to lead to increased journey times.
Our key advice is to stay on the M60 and approach the venue from Junction 9 and Junction 7
If you can travel flexibly, re-time your journey to before 4.30pm or after 11pm to avoid fans arriving and departing from the concert.
Old Trafford is easily accesible on foot from local areas – why not Run For Cover and beat the traffic!
We are encouraging everyone who is within 30 minutes of the stadium to make their journey to the concert on foot.
From the city centre it's a 45-minute walk along the Bridgewater Canal.
Goodnight, Travel Well.
