Advice for Drivers
Please stay at home unless making an essential journey.
Phase two of the M602 works has commenced between Junction 1 for M60/M62 and Junction 2 for Guilda Brook Road and is due to last for 13 weeks.
During this phase temporary narrow lanes and the following speed restrictions will be in place:
40mph on the westbound carriageway (travelling Westbound from Manchester) 50mph on the eastbound carriageway (travelling Eastbound to Manchester)
The narrow lane closures and speed restrictions may result in delays during peak periods. It may be quicker to Re-Time your jouney to before 7am or after 9.30am Eastbound. Westbound journeys may be quicker before 4pm and after 6:30pm.
Phase 2 of the works will also include overnight lane and full closures. Full closures will be between 9pm and 5am and will be limited to one side of the M602 only.
During Phase 2 of the works the signed diversion will be via A57 Eccles New Road.
If your heading towards the M60 then Re-routing via the A580 East Lancs may be quicker. To the south of the M602 Re-routing via A5081 Village Way (towards M60 Junction 9) or M56 Chester Road (towards M60 Junction 7) may also be quicker than taking the diversion route.
When there are major events happening in Greater Manchester these closures may be delayed until a later time.
