Temporary service change

After a cracked rail was found on the approach to Victoria, Metrolink engineers have removed the track crossing between Victoria and Exchange Square.

As a result, there is a temporary service change to the tram network until the end of service on Sunday 5 May.

Engineering works will then take place on Monday 6 May. Normal service patterns will resume from the start of service on Tuesday 7 May.

What this means for your journey:

• No trams are operating between Victoria and Exchange Square until further notice.

• The East Didsbury – Shaw and Crompton service will instead operate East Didsbury to Exchange Square during peak times (Monday to Friday 7am until 7pm and Saturdays 9am until 6pm).
  Outside of these hours, please make your way to Market Street or Shudehill to board a service. This will mean there is no peak service between Shaw and Crompton and Exchange Square.

• The East Didsbury – Rochdale Town Centre service will continue to operate via Market Street, Shudehill and Victoria and there are extra double trams so everyone can make their journey.

• This change has been made to reduce congestion in Manchester city centre. Journey times and the number of delays across the tram network should decrease following this change.

• Once the track crossing is replaced, the East Didsbury - Rochdale Town Centre and East Didsbury - Shaw and Crompton services will return to normal.
