Whilst the reasons for tendered or specific franchised services are varied, in general terms TfGM uses tendered BSOG to assist in securing services which are deemed not to be commercial by operators in the areas currently under transition to franchise services. Typically these maybe evening and Sunday services or services to more rural areas of GM or extensions to the existing network to serve such areas. Some tendered services are also provided expressly to serve areas of specific social, employment or educational need.
