"My name is Zaheer Babar, and I work as a Central Utility Officer at TFGM.

"I have been part of the organisation for over six years, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of our bus stations and interchanges."

How have you seen things changed and how does your role contribute towards the changes?

"Over the years, I have witnessed significant transformation at Transport for Greater Manchester, particularly with the introduction of The Bee Network, which is reshaping how we deliver integrated and accessible transport across the region.

"My role plays a part in supporting these changes by ensuring essential services are managed effectively.

"I also led a Power Bank pilot project at Shudehill Interchange, an initiative aimed at enhancing the customer experience by providing convenient charging solutions at key locations.

"This supports our goal of creating a more connected and customer focused network."

How have you felt supported in your role at TfGM?

"Transport for Greater Manchester has supported me throughout my journey, especially through its strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

"The organisation’s family-friendly policies and employee benefits have helped me maintain a healthy work-life balance, and I have always felt encouraged to grow both personally and professionally."

What is your proudest achievement in your role at TfGM?

"One of my proudest achievements is completing my Level 5 Operations Management Apprenticeship, which has significantly enhanced my skills and confidence.

"It represents a key milestone in my development and reflects the support I have received from the organisation."

Are there opportunities for development and learning you have taken advantage of?

"Yes, I have taken advantage of several development opportunities, including the Level 5 apprenticeship.

"Currently, I am considering working towards a Level 6 qualification to further my development."

What piece of advice would you give to people applying for opportunities with TfGM?

"TfGM is a place where you can truly grow if you are open to learning and taking initiative.

"My advice would be to take full advantage of the development opportunities available and never hesitate to ask for support.

"This is a place where encouragement and collaboration are genuinely part of the culture."

What do you love the most about serving our communities in Greater Manchester?

"I take great pride in knowing that the work I do helps strengthen the wellbeing and connectivity of communities across Greater Manchester.

"It is deeply rewarding to be part of an organisation that has a meaningful and positive impact on people’s everyday lives."

"I am not currently a member of any specific networks, but I appreciate the inclusive environment that TFGM fosters through these groups."
