TfGM has great experience working with partners to enhance the customer experience and give brands the platform they need to reach their target market. You can see some examples of the partnership activity we have carried out in recent years below:
As a BBC Music Day partner, TfGM celebrated the event with a variety of music activations onboard. The tram featured exclusive pop performances from Keane, The Jade Academy, Rory Wynne and Freeda, who surprised lucky travellers across the day. One of the highlights was a live performance from Keane, which was shown on BBC1’s ‘The One Show’ and reached 2.8 million viewers nationally.
Manchester Pride is the largest of the City’s staple calendar of events. TfGM are a proud long-term partner and in 2019 showed our support of the LGBTQ+ community. This includes our two iconic rainbow trams, a rebranded front of building logo and the tallest pride flag in Manchester across 2 Piccadilly Place, welcoming visitors into the city.
TfGM also walked in the Pride Parade, bringing together colleagues from TfGM, Metrolink and Mayfield along with hundreds of other businesses from across Greater Manchester.
Manchester City Football Club are an iconic global brand, and partnered with TfGM Metrolink to introduce a new ‘Touch of Brazil’ exhibition within their stadium tour, promoting the launch onboard a tram running to the Ethiad campus.
The one-of-a-kind stunt saw samba dancers and musicians create a party atmosphere on the tram, handing out face masks of Brazilian City stars to passengers, with coverage achieved on Key103 and the MEN.
These opportunities are about increasing opportunities to promote public transport, enhancing the customer experience, extending reach and supporting brand reputation.
You can also find out more about the wide range of media channels we have on offer to help brands connect to a large audience across Greater Manchester on our Advertise with TfGM page.

Experiential activity
With millions of customer journeys per year, Metrolink offers the opportunity to promote your product or service at high footfall locations or even on-board trams.
Experiential ideas are always of interest to us. Please contact commercial@tfgm.com to discuss any ideas you may have.
Examples of past activities are shown below:
TFGM joined forces with Manchester City Council and the Literacy Trust to celebrate World Book Day under the campaign 'Read Manchester'.
As part of the partnership, for one day only, every tram on the Metrolink network was filled with children's books or 'Quick Reads' titles for adults, and passengers were encouraged to either enjoy on their journey to work or to take home to share with family and friends.
The partnership was supported with a variety of media channels including tannoy announcements, social media and additional books that Metrolink customers could collect at Central Library – right next to Metrolink stop St Peters Square!
Flowers were handed out to Metrolink customers at one of the busiest Metrolink stops, St Peter’s Square, which is in the heart of Manchester city centre.
The giveaway promoted the ticket offer for RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park generating positive social media and 60,000 visitors over five days.
Over three weeks, Ikea ran Metrolink stop sampling where passengers took part in a ‘lucky dip’ to win freebies. Customers also received a £5 off voucher to redeem in store, allowing Ikea to track uplift and could also win up to £100 to spend in store at each sampling event.
"We were blown away with the voucher redemption results" and "crazy happy" with the on-stop activations. Freebies at St Peters Square disappeared in less than 45 minutes!"
