Race Equality Week and Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week

2 - 6 February 2026

This week we’re marking Race Equality Week and Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week — two important moments that shine a light on the experiences of our communities and the role we play in creating a fair, safe and inclusive Bee Network.

Insight from across Greater Manchester shows that racial inequalities continue to shape people’s experiences of transport, including how safe they feel, how confident they are to report incidents, and how clear they are about what actually constitutes a hate crime or hate incident.

We also know that there is still confusion around when and how to report, and that this can prevent people from seeking help or raising concerns.

Our focus this week is on improving awareness, confidence and clarity. That includes reinforcing that everyone has the right to feel safe when travelling, that hate crime and discrimination are never acceptable, and that simple, accessible reporting routes are available — including TravelSafe Live Chat, operator channels and the police.
