Over the last month, we’re aware there has been delays to the free bus service in the city centre and that during the busiest times of day, services have sometimes been unable to meet the scheduled 10-minute frequency.
This has been caused for a number of reasons, including more people working, living and visiting the city centre, events, poor weather, construction activity and highway improvement works.
We’re also working hard with local councils to manage this disruption to the free bus as best as possible, particularly on the run up to the busy Christmas season.
Together, we are looking at things like what roadworks can take place, traffic light timings and strengthening public transport provision, with more free buses due to be added in November.
Alternatives to free bus
If it's possible for you to do so, you may want to consider other ways to get around the city centre:
- Travel by tram
- Hire a Starling Bank Bike
- Walk, cycle or wheel to your destination
