Prestwich Carnival returns this year, taking place in St Mary's Park between Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June.

Key Advice

The parade will take place on Sunday 14 June 2026 between 12pm and 2pm. To allow the parade to take place, a number of road closures, will be in place between 10am and 2pm. To avoid congestion, consider using Metrolink: Prestwich tram stop is only a ten-minute walk away.
Bus diversions will be in place in Prestwich on the day. Consider walking or cycling for local trips as it could be quicker for you.

About the Prestwich Carnival parade

Prestwich Carnival is coming this Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, with a fantastic weekend of family fun for all ages. Enjoy donkey rides, archery, funfair attractions and plenty more, with the parade taking place on Sunday.

The parade will take place between 12pm and 2pm and will depart from Rectory Lane, then head towards Heywood Road to Heys Road, then onto Fairfax Road and Bury New Road through the Village to St Mary’s Park.

Bus Diversions

To allow the celebrations to take place, the following bus services will be on diversion at various times throughout the day: 66, 94, 95, 97, 98, X41 and X43.

Road Closures

To allow for the parade to take place, the following road closures will be in place:

From 10am to 2pm

Rectory Lane will be closed between Clarks Hill and St Mary’s Road.

From 12pm to 2pm

Bury New Road will be closed between Tesco Prestwich and Scholes Lane.

These closures mean all traffic will need to use alternative routes and there could be congestion on these roads, especially on the roads near the parade route.

If you are travelling to the parade, we strongly recommend using public transport as this will be quicker than driving.

Travelling by Tram

The quickest and easiest way to travel to the Carnival over the weekend is to use the tram. The nearest stop to the route is:

Prestwich

Passengers are encouraged to pay via contactless to beat the queue at the ticket machines. If you decide to pay for your ticket this way, please remember that the ticket you are purchasing is for one adult only. It is not possible to touch-in and out for multiple tickets.

If you are travelling with children, a child or family travelcard will need to be purchased from the ticket machine.

Travelling by Car

Prestwich Carnival will take place at St Mary's Road, Prestwich.

Roads are likely to be busier surrounding the park on both days and with road closures in place on Sunday 14 June, consider using one of the 24 park and ride sites in Greater Manchester, where you can park your car for free and hop on the tram to your destination.

The park and ride sites on the Bury line are:

Whitefield - 331 spaces and 13 disabled spaces.
Radcliffe - 480 spaces and 22 disabled spaces.

Cycling and Walking
