Tangent

The Horizon 2020 funded TANGENT project aims to develop new tools for optimising the operation of the transport network in a dynamic and adaptive way from a multimodal perspective (road, rail, water) and considers motorised and non-motorised users as well as automated/non-automated vehicles.

The project will seek to develop a multi-modal dashboard for traffic management and analysis that uses AI and predictive modelling to proactively manage the transport network and provide key insights on possible bottlenecks across the city region due to external factors such as weather, events, accidents or roadworks.

TfGM’s role in the project will be to define what a transport authority would require from such a dashboard, and outline the key challenges which the tools developed during TANGENT could assist with addressing. TfGM will also provide, test and validate data in order to ensure that the dashboard is robust and fit-for purpose.
