From Saturday 14 until Sunday 22 February 2026, Network Rail works will be taking place, delivering track and signalling upgrades to Manchester Piccadilly Rail Station. Whilst the works are taking place, Piccadilly Station will be closed to trains from the south and east and the city.
A heavily reduced service will operate from Platforms 13 and 14. Journeys by rail in Greater Manchester will be impacted, with a limited number of rail services operating via the station.
Tram services will not be affected and will continue to operate as usual via Piccadilly.
If you're travelling in Greater Manchester during this time, make sure to plan ahead before setting off. As roads, as well as trams and buses may be busier than usual between 14 - 22 February, please allow more time than usual for your journeys. Visit our Journey Planner to plan your journey by bus or tram.
Further works will be taking place at Piccadilly Station, on Sunday 1 March and on Sunday 22 March 2026, from the start of service until 1pm only.
