Remembrance day events are taking place across Greater Manchester on Sunday 8 November.

Many buses will operate on diversion in the city centre and elsewhere across the region whilst Remembrance services take place, there will also be changes to the tram service pattern.

Free travel on tram and Bee Network buses for members of the Armed Forces

On Sunday 8 and Wednesday 11 November 2026, the Bee Network will be supporting Veterans and members of the regular and reserve services by offering free travel on both these days on Bee Network bus and tram services.

To be eligible for free travel, the following will be accepted over both days:

Veterans who carry their veterans badge or members of the Regular and Reserve Services carrying their MOD90 card can travel for free on Metrolink and Bee Network bus services.
Veteran Rail Cards will also be accepted, along with Defence Discount Service cards if they display the wording 'HM Armed Forces Veteran'.
Cadets travelling in uniform can travel for free on Metrolink and Bee Network bus services.

Tram service changes

On Sunday 8 November, the annual Service of Remembrance will take place at the Cenotaph in St Peter’s Square from 10am to midday.

Veterans and military personnel will march from John Dalton Street to the Cenotaph, where a service will be held at 11am. This will be followed by a short march across St Peter's Square, down Peter Street and on to Mount Street.

A two-minute silence will be observed commencing at 11am. The start and finish of the two-minute silence will be signified by the firing of a 105mm gun.

On Sunday 8 November, the annual service of remembrance will take place in St Peter's Square.

As a result, tram services through St Peter's Square will be suspended between 10am and 1pm. The following service patterns will be in operation:

From start of service until 10am

From start of service until 10am, no trams will operate via Exchange Square.

Bury – Ashton-under-Lyne
Altrincham – Etihad Campus
Eccles (via MediaCityUK) – Cornbrook
Rochdale Town Centre – East Didsbury (via Market Street)
Manchester Airport – Victoria (via Market Street)
Trafford Centre – Deansgate-Castlefield

10am to 1.30pm

From 10am until 1.30pm, no trams will run through St Peter’s Square.

Rochdale Town Centre – Exchange Square
Manchester Airport – Deansgate-Castlefield

From 1.30pm until the end of service

Trams to East Disbury and Rochdale will operate via Exchange Square after 1.30pm.

Oldham

With events taking place, the following bus services will be on diversion: 57, 59, 83, 84, 182, 350, 356, 396, 409 and 425 from 10am to approximately midday.

Wigan

With events taking place, the following bus services will be on diversion: 132, 320, 352, 375, 559, 575, 601, 603, 604, 607, 608, 609, 610, 612, 613, 615, 632 and 639 from 10am to approximately midday.
