After school congestion warning
The graph below compares September 2020 vehicle journey times (when there were less people travelling on the network due to COVID-19 restrictions) with September 2019 data.
Journey time data shows that congestion is worse on the roads surrounding the school, especially at the end of the school day.
This could be due to more students arriving and departing to schools via car, as well as other congestion reasons such as roadworks and incidents.
To minimise this increased congestion spike, students and parents are encouraged to have a look at the public transport alternatives and dedicated school services below.
School bus services
The dedicated 603, 650, 651, 652, 656, 659 and 920 school bus services operate to and from the school.

Commercial bus services
The 320 bus service is only a five-minute walk from the schools and connects with Ashton-in-Makerfield and Wigan.
Duplicate bus services
Capacity on the commercial bus network continues to be significantly reduced due to coronavirus social distancing measures.
TfGM are working with operators to run around 300 additional bus journeys each weekday across the region to help students using public transport get to and from school and college safely.
Duplicate bus journeys exclusively for school and college students run behind the original scheduled service at set times, with the usual route number starting in ‘S’ to show they are school services.
Find out which routes are supported by duplicate bus services by clicking here.
Rail services
Bryn station is a 20-minute walk to the schools (or quicker on your bike). Check rail services are running before you leave home and have a backup plan (just in case they are not operating).
