Transpennine Route Upgrade Works

Weekends between 27 June - Sunday 2 August

From Saturday 27 June - Sunday 2 August works will be taking place between Huddersfield and Leeds as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.

Whilst works are on going, the railway between Stalybridge and Hudderfield will be closd on weekends through July and August. This will affect journeys between Manchester and Huddersfield, with services being amended or replaced by bus.

Journey times are expected to be longer than usual, please allow more time for your travel.

Whilst the works take place no trains between Manchester and Hudderfield/Leeds will serve the following stops: Mossley, Greenfield, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Brighouse, Deighton, Mirfield and Huddersfield.

A replacement bus will be in operation between Stalybridge and Huddersfield whilst the weekend works are ongoing.

These works are part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a major programme of railway improvements between Manchester, Huddersfield and Leeds. The works, which are being carried out by Network Rail, will bring better journeys to passengers travelling across the Pennines.

During this set of works, TRU will be renewing sections of track and undertaking various improvements and maintenance between Deighton and Mirfield.
