Trinity Way/Chapel Street junction improvement works

From 27 July until November 2026

From Monday 27 July, for approximately 16 weeks, improvement works will take place at the junction of Chapel Street and Trinity Way.

These works are being delivered as the first phase of wider improvements planned for the area.

Salford City Council are committed to supporting the improvement of neighbourhoods around the district to ensure that everyone can get on and get around easily.

Phase one of the project will deliver a range of immediate safety and accessibility upgrades including:

Full resurfacing of the junction
New and upgraded controlled pedestrian crossings
Bus lane enhancements and targeted junction changes to improve safety for all users.

From Monday 27 July, temporary traffic signals will be in place at the junction of Chapel Street/Trinity Way.

In addition, daytime lane closures will also be implemented between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday to Friday. During peak-times, two lanes of traffic will remain open on all approaches.

Towards the end of the works, some night-time lane closures will be needed to facilitate road resurfacing.

We're advising those travelling by car to leave extra time for their journeys and to check the website for the latest information before setting off and for through trips to use the Inner Ring Road.
