Accessibility statement for the Bee Network mobile app
This accessibility statement applies to the Bee Network mobile app.
This app is run by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this app. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours and contrast levels
- resize text by activating dynamic type in iOS and large fonts, screen zoom in Android
- navigate most of the app using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the app using voice control in iOS and voice access in Android
- listen to most of the app using VoiceOver in iOS, Talk Back in Android
We’ve also made the app text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this app is
We know some parts of this app are not fully accessible:
- When planning a journey, the departure/arrival time selections rely on swipe gestures which may not be accessible to some users.
- After changing the default text size in your operating system you may need to restart the app for all the changes to take effect in the app.
- For bus tracking, the buses and stop name text shown on the map do not scale with text size. However, the buses, and their scheduled arrival times can be viewed in the fully accessible bus tracking drawer, along with the progress relative to the route for supported bus services.
- There is no accessible way of viewing the exact location of a bus on the map through a screen reader, though screen reader users can access additional messaging in the drawer regarding the bus’s location relative to the selected stop, for supported bus services.
- We use Survicate to collect user feedback in-app. Survicate surveys are not fully accessible, as text does not scale with screen size.
The app includes links to the Transport for Greater Manchester website, which is covered by a separate accessibility statement.
