A wide range of evidence was assembled, with concentrated fresh evidence gathering in 2024, then analysis and interpretation continuing into the first half of 2025. This evidence included:
- analysis of existing data, including on patronage and on economic development,
- in-depth stakeholder interviews and case study development,
- passenger surveys,
- surveys of businesses.

The evaluation evidence contained in the report will be valuable in promoting use of the line in the future and in shaping the future rapid transit extensions programme.
Further evaluation work is anticipated in the coming years, particularly as local economic growth impacts emerge more fully.
