Soccer Aid for UNICEF makes its grand return to Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday, June 15 [7:30PM K.O]

This iconic event brings together a star-studded lineup of celebrities and football legends, as the reigning champions England faces off against the Soccer Aid World XI FC in a thrilling showdown for a great cause. With over £106 million raised since its inception in 2006, every goal scored helps change children's lives around the world.

Key advice

There will be tram improvement works taking place on Piccadilly Gardens tram stop, which means there will be no trams operating from Piccadilly Station to city centre stops.
Tram services on the Altrincham line will be considerably busier. If travelling by tram, we recommend allowing plenty of time for your journey.
Other events including Parklife at Heaton Park and Chris Brown at Co-op Live Arena will take place this day. Public transport and roads are expected to be considerably busier - don't miss out on the action and plan ahead!

There are several tram stops within walking distance of Old Trafford:

Old Trafford (Altrincham line) - located a five-minute walk from the stadium

Wharfside (Trafford Park line) - located a five-minute walk from the stadium.

Trafford Bar (Altrincham/East Didsbury/Manchester Airport lines) - 20-minute walk.

Due to planned improvement works taking place, trams on the Altrincham line won’t serve Piccadilly Gardens or Piccadilly. Services will run between Altrincham and Bury via Market Street.

We’re making it as easy as possible to get between the Market Street, Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly stops:

Follow the short, signposted walking route.
Or hop onboard the fully wheelchair accessible free bus 1 and 2 services.
Or catch the replacement bus service running outside usual free bus operating times.

Tram services will run to a 7.5 minute frequency.

Several Bee Network bus services operate to Old Trafford. The 250, 255, 256, 263 and x50 will bring you closest to the ground are are a short walking distance away.

Seymour Grove will be closed whilst carriageway works take place. As a result, 785 bus services will divert via Great Stone Road, Talbot Road and Stretford Road in both directions. Customers are advised to use stops on Great Stone Road or Stretford Road.

Journey times could be impacted due to the increased levels of traffic, so be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time for your travel.

If you can travel flexibly, re-time your journey to avoid congestion on the roads close to Old Trafford, as traffic will start to build from around 2 hours before the match whilst fans start to make their way to the ground.

With Parklife at Heaton Park (starting at midday - curfew at 11pm), we are expecting Manchester city centre to get busy, which is going to lead to increased journey times.

Old Trafford is easily accessible from local areas because of the area's network of footpaths and cycle paths. We are encouraging everyone who is within 30 minutes of the stadium to make their journey to the concert on foot. From the city centre it's a 45-minute walk along the Bridgewater Canal.
