Piccadilly Gardens - Tram improvement works

Sunday 27 September - Friday 2 October

From Sunday 27 September to Friday 2 October, improvement works will take place at Piccadilly Gardens. During this time, no trams will operate between St Peter's Square/Market Street and Piccadilly.

Changes to the tram service include:

Ashton-under-Lyne and Etihad Campus services will start from Piccadilly
Eccles services will terminate from Deansgate-Castlefield.
Altrincham to Bury services will operate via Market Street. They will not call at Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly.

Customers may need to take a short walk, hop on the free bus or change trams to continue their journey. Outside of free bus operating times, a replacement bus will operate between Piccadilly and Victoria.

Tram services will resume from start of service on Saturday 3 October.

You can follow our signposted walking routes to get around the city centre during the works.

Altrincham/Bury line towards Piccadilly: To reach Piccadilly Gardens or Piccadilly, alight the tram at Market Street and follow the signposted walking route.
Ashton line towards Piccadilly Gardens/Eccles: To reach Piccadilly Gardens or Market Street, alight the tram at Piccadilly and follow the signposted walking route. Travelling on to Eccles? Hop on an Altrincham or Manchester Airport bound tram from Market Street and change at Deansgate-Castlefield for the Eccles line.

You can also use the free bus 1 and 2 services to hop on and off around the city centre. Find out more about this in the section below.

Monday to Saturday

Services will operate every 15 minutes:

Rochdale Town Centre - East Didsbury (via Exchange Square)
Shaw & Crompton - East Didsbury (via Exchange Square / peak times only)
Trafford Centre - Crumpsall (via Exchange Square)
Bury - Altrincham (via Market Street / 7.5 minute frequency during peak times)
Manchester Airport - Victoria (via Market Street)
Deansgate-Castlefield - Eccles (via MediaCityUK)
Piccadilly - Ashton-under-lyne
Piccadilly - Etihad Campus

From Monday to Friday, peak-time only services will operate from 7am - 8pm.

On Saturday only, peak-time only services will operate from 9am - 6.30pm.

Sunday

Services will operate every 15 minutes:

Trafford Centre - Crumpsall (via Exchange Square)
Bury - Altrincham (via Market Street)
Manchester Airport - Victoria (via Market Street)

Customers are advised to hop on the free bus to continue their journey.

Outside of free bus operating times, a replacement bus service will run between Victoria and Piccadilly to match tram operating times.
