Throughout 2023, planned improvement works will take place on Metrolink.
These works will affect various different lines, which is summarised below.
For the majority of the improvement works, a replacement bus service will be operating to help you continue your journey.
If you are travelling on any of the dates listed below, please plan ahead and allow plenty of time for your journey.

Service changes from Monday 25 September
From Monday 25 September, there will be some changes to the tram service pattern.
These changes include:
- Reintroduction of MediaCityUK to Etihad Campus peak service (Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm and Saturday, 9am to 6.30pm) and changes to the Eccles to Ashton line.
- Extension of night-time operating hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cornbrook works
On Sunday 22 October, work will take place at Cornbrook.
During this time, tram services across the network will be impacted. The following service pattern will operate:
- Bury to Ashton-under-Lyne
- Altrincham to Old Trafford
- Rochdale Town Centre to Deansgate-Castlefield
- East Didsbury to Firswood
- Manchester Airport to Firswood
- Trafford Centre to Wharfside
Replacement buses will operate on the following routes:
- Eccles – Piccadilly: (Eccles / Ashton-under-Lyne line)
- Old Trafford – Piccadilly via Wharfside: (Altrincham / Trafford Park line)
- Firswood – Deansgate Castlefield: (East Didsbury / Rochdale line)
- Firswood – Victoria: (Airport line)
Replacement bus services will operate.
Tram services will resume in full on Monday 23 October.
Bury and Rochdale line works
On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November, work will take place on the Bury and Rochdale lines.
During this time, there will be no tram service between Bury and Whitefield, and Freehold and Rochdale Town Centre.
Replacement buses will operate on the affected routes.
Tram services will resume in full on Monday 6 November.
