Over the next few months, we’re carrying out a major programme of planned improvement works across the Metrolink - all part of a £150 million investment to future proof the network.
The first set of works commenced in May on the Oldham & Rochdale line, with further closures announced for Sunday 7 June and Sunday 12 July.
On both dates, there will be no trams between Victoria and Rochdale town centre while we replace worn track, improve drainage and strengthen the foundations underneath the rails. This work is essential to remove long standing speed restrictions and help trams run smoothly and reliably long into the future.
While the line is closed, we’ll also be taking the opportunity to carry out Phase 1 of permanent repair work near Derker, following a landslip in 2024. Temporary measures have kept the line running safely - now engineers will install steel supports to stabilise the ground and prevent future movement.
We know closures are disruptive and we’re genuinely sorry for the impact on journeys. Replacement buses will be in place, and customers are encouraged to plan ahead and check the Bee Network website or app for the latest service information.
Thank you for your patience while we carry out this essential work to keep Greater Manchester moving
