Travelling by tram
Trams will be operating every 12 minutes to/from the Velodrome or every 6 minutes to the nearby Etihad Campus stop
On Saturday 21 February, Manchester City play Newcastle United (kick-off 12:30pm) and James Arhur plays in the evening at the nearby Co-op Live. As a result, tram services on the Eccles - Ashton-under-Lyne line will be busier than usual from mid-afternoon and Velopark tram stop will be closed from approximately 2:15pm to 3pm.
Please allow more time for your journey.
Travelling by bus
If you are intending to catch a bus to or from the Velodrome, the following commercial bus services will bring you closest to the venue:
Along Ashton New Road - five-minute walk from the venue
Along Alan Turing Way - seven-minute walk from the venue
Journey times could also be impacted due to the increased levels of traffic, so be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time for your travel.
Travelling by bike
The Ashton Canal provides a traffic-free route for cyclists from Manchester city centre and Ashton to the Velopark.
The National Cycling Centre have covered bike sheds close to reception for visitors, but you need to bring your own high security lock.
Looking to hire an electric bike? Through the Beryl app, you can locate and unlock your bike, get from A to B, then safely lock your hired bike up again. There are two bike hire points near the south-west corner of the Etihad stadium, on Ashton New Road.
Travelling on foot
The Velodrome is a 45-minute walk from Piccadilly station.
You can follow the step-free walking route towards the Etihad Campus, which is clearly signposted through Manchester’s Ancoats and New Islington areas. From the end of the CityLink walking route by Etihad Campus stop, you can reach the venue by walking alongside the Ashton canal or crossing over Alan Turing Way & continuing along Stuart Street/Gibbon Street.
Travelling by car
There is no spectator parking available at the National Cycling Centre, nor on Etihad Campus.
With a strict resident parking zone enforced around the ground, we strongly advise those attending this session to travel by public transport/walking route. If you must drive, please park responsibly and consider parking in the city centre or one of our park and ride locations. From there, you can finish your journey with ease by hopping onboard a tram.
Post event, roads in and around the Etihad Campus will be busy with those attending the Snow Patrol concert at the Co-op Live.
