How does the Ring and Ride service work?

The service runs using 16-seater minibuses. The buses are branded with Ring and Ride logos.

This is currently a cash only service. Fares start at £1.10 if you hold a travel plus or £1.60 if you hold a travel pass for older or disabled people. Pre 9.30am fares apply from Monday to Friday. Read more information about pricing.

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and
assistance/support dogs travel free of charge. For the comfort and safety of all passengers, we’re sorry but other dogs and pets are not allowed.

Yes. You can book trips for you and any additional passengers.

All additional passengers will be charged and you will pay for all trips using the same payment method. Find out more about pricing.

Yes, you can. Trips can be booked up to 7 days in advance.

Please give at least one hour’s notice.

The easiest way to use the service is by downloading the app with the links above.

However, if you do not have a smartphone, or need additional assistance, you can call the Contact Centre on 0161 244 1000 and we’ll help you over the phone.

If you have already registered through the contact centre, you will already be set up with the relevant accessible type.

If you need to add a wheelchair to your account, please contact us on 0161 244 1000.

Account information

Navigate to the menu in the top left corner of the app and tap your name at the top. Then tap your name, email or phone number to update it.

Open the app and select 'Get Started.' In the password box, select 'Forgot your password?' and follow the prompts.

Navigate to the menu in the top left corner of the app and tap 'Favourites', then tap 'Set Home Address', 'Set Work Address', or create and name a new favourite.

Once you have saved favourite addresses, they will appear as quick options on the home screen, making booking trips even easier.

Go to the menu in the top left corner of the app and tap your name or profile picture at the top. Then tap ‘Delete my account’ at the bottom of the page.

Booking information

Once you start a trip, the destination cannot be changed. If you have not yet boarded the vehicle, you can cancel the ride and re-book with a new pickup or destination address.

You can cancel your ride directly from the app or by calling our contact centre team on 0161 244 1000 at the number listed above.

Remember, cancelling at the last minute can negatively impact other customers, so please cancel as soon you know that you don’t need a trip.

Sometimes, if we are experiencing high demand in your area, there may not be any vehicles or drivers currently available to meet your trip request. If your travel plans are flexible, you can try requesting a different time.

Please note, calling will not increase your ability to book a ride as our customer service agents have the same ability as you do booking in the app.

Once a trip is confirmed, you will see the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of your driver in the app. You can follow your driver’s progress in real-time so you know where they are.

General policies

There is a strict no-smoking policy for customers and drivers while onboard vehicles.

Seatbelts must be worn at all times whilst on the vehicles unless a medical certificate is provided which exempts you from wearing one.
