Ring and Ride journeys are available to book now. For more information about availability, you can call our Customer Contact Centre on 0161 200 6011.
Ring & Ride provide accessible, low cost transport to disabled people and older people with walking difficulties. If you qualify, you can book a Ring & Ride accessible minibus to take you, and an accompanying adult, door to door for journeys of up to 6 miles in Greater Manchester.
There are some exceptions where registered users may travel more than 6 miles from their home address as long as the destination is within Greater Manchester.
Trips which may be considered include:
- Travel to the nearest local hospital
- Travel to the nearest town centre or accessible transport facility
Ring & Ride minibuses are suitable for taking wheelchairs, and all drivers have had special accessibility and disability-awareness training.
Travelling safely during COVID
Ring and Ride services have now resumed, with enhanced safety measures in place.
-
Drivers will wear face masks and gloves at all times. We would ask that you also wear a face covering for the safety of staff and other passengers. Please let the Customer Contact Centre know in advance if you are unable to wear a face covering due to one of the exceptions.
-
Vehicles will be cleaned with sanitised wipes at the end of each trip.
-
Seat spacing allows a minimum of one metre between passengers. However, wherever possible, passengers will be directed to sit in seats which permit social distancing of two metres.
-
A receptacle will be provided to place fares in to reduce handling cash. Passengers are requested to have correct fare where possible.
-
The use of shopping trolleys is discouraged but if it is essential, arrangements can be made to accommodate them at the rear of the vehicle.
-
Assisted journeys have now resumed and passengers using wheelchairs and those requiring physical assistance to board the vehicle will be able to travel. Drivers will be issued with additional PPE as appropriate. For passengers who require physical assistance getting to and/or boarding the vehicle, a wheelchair will be provided and must be used. Please advise when booking if you require physical assistance boarding the vehicle.
-
Regular bookings of six passengers can be requested.
