- If you’re travelling for a single journey or for multiple journeys in one day or across a week, you can pay as you go by touching-in and touching-out at a smart reader using your contactless payment card or device. We’ll work out the adult single or travelcard prices for your journeys, up to a daily and weekly cap.

- Pay by credit or debit card (including contactless up to £100) or by cash (change given) for adult, child, concession and family tram tickets: including single tickets and 1-day, weekend, 7-day and 28-day travelcards.

If you would like a weekend or season ticket, there’s no need to buy a printed ticket you can use the Greater Manchester app, get me there, to buy weekend, 7-day and 28-day travelcards for Metrolink trams.

For single and return journeys, the easiest way to travel is using a contactless card or device, using the smart readers on stops to pay for journeys as you go. We’ll work out the adult single or travelcard prices for your journeys, up to a daily and weekly cap.

- You can buy a range of tickets and travelcards online and store them on a smart card.
- Using a get me there account is perfect if you want to buy a day ticket or season ticket in advance using a computer, tablet or smartphone. You can buy a ticket up to 7 days in advance and your ticket will be available from the day after you buy it. Just use a smart reader at a tram stop to collect it.
- When you create your account, you can request a get me there card or link another compatible smart card you already have.

Please note - You can not pay for a journey on the tram. You must have a ticket before you get on.
Bus tickets
On board
- Pay the bus driver for single, return and some saver tickets and 'smart' travelcards, including System One tickets to use on a combination of buses, trams and trains.
- If paying with cash, try and have the right amount, although the driver will usually be able to give you change. You can now pay with contactless cards and devices on many buses, but you should check bus company websites before travelling, like Arriva, Diamond, First Bus, Go North West and Stagecoach.
Online
- Buy many types of saver tickets that give you several journeys in a day, or season tickets on bus company websites like Arriva, Diamond First Bus or Stagecoach.

Train tickets
At a rail station

Ticket office: Pay by cash, card, or company cheque (some train companies only: please check first).

Ticket machine: Pay by cash (not available at some stations), card or pick up tickets you have paid for online (using the same debit or credit card).
On the train
- If you can't buy a ticket at the station, you can pay for most tickets on the train by cash or card.
Online
- Buy individual rail journey tickets, season tickets and combined tickets on rail company websites. Select your ticket on the National Rail journey planner, then follow the links to buy online.
