Manchester Caribbean Carnival

Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026

The Manchester Caribbean Carnival is a two-day free event and will be a family friendly celebration of community, heritage, and music taking place in the heart of the community at Alexandra Park.

Alexandra Park is located on 180 Russell Street, Manchester, M16 7JL. You can find out more information about the carnival here.

Travelling on to the Carnival? we've provided some travel advice below to help you continue your journey.

Event information

Two parades will be taking place on Saturday which will both finish at Alexandra Park.

The first parade will take place at 7am, starting from Moss Lane East on to Upper Lloyd Street then Great Western Street onto Quinney Crescent and Alexandra Road ending at Alexandra Park. The Main Parade will take place between midday and 2pm making its way through the streets of Hulme and Moss Side before ending at Alexandra Park.

Travel by bus

Road closures will be in place to allow the parade to take place safely. As a result, bus services operating to or from Piccadilly Gardens may operate on diversion and experience delays.

Travel by tram

Saturday

There are a number of tram stops within a 30 minute walk from Alexandra Park. Here is a list of the closest stops:

Firswood - (East Didsbury/Manchester Airport line) - 25 minute walk via College Road to the park.
Chorlton - (East Didsbury/Manchester Airport line) - 28 minute walk via Wilbraham Road to the park.
St Werburgh's Road - (East Didsbury/Manchester Airport line) - 27 minute walk via Withington Road to the park.

Sunday

On Sunday, planned works are taking place until 2pm, trams will operate every 15 minutes on the following service pattern:

Start of service until 2pm

Bury - Ashton-under-Lyne
Victoria - Etihad Campus
Rochdale Town Centre - Exchange Square
East Didsbury - Firswood
Manchester Airport - Firswood

If you have to drive, did you know that there are 24 park and ride sites in Greater Manchester, where you can park your car for free and hop on the tram?

Travel by train

For events-goers coming from outside Greater Manchester and looking to travel by train, there are multiple train stations located within the city centre where you you can continue your journey via Metrolink or on foot. The following stations are:

Travel by car

There will be increased congestion around Alexandra Park on the day, with no parking available on the site. If possible, try and use one of our alternative travel options to get to this event.

Cycling and Walking

Alexandra Park is easily accessible by bike, with cycle lanes running from the city centre to the park.

Alexandra Park is approximately a 45 minute walk from the heart of Manchester city centre. The best walking route would be along Portland Street, Chepstow Street, Medlock Street and Princess Road.
