Manchester Aquatics Centre is the home of the British Swimming Performance Centre. After recently undergoing a large-scale refurbishment, amongst the facilities, it has a state-of-the-art 25m diving pool and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

There are a number of stops within a 15 to 20 minute walking distance of Manchester Aquatics Centre:

  • St Peter's Square (Eccles/Ashton/Altrincham/Bury/Airport/Rochdale/Shaw and Crompton/East Didsbury lines)
  • Piccadilly (Eccles/Ashton/Altrincham/Bury lines)

Park and Ride

Tickets

Beat the queue at the machines and touch-in and out at the on-stop machines using contactless.

If you're travelling with your squad, save money and travel using our family travelcard. Remember, this is only available at the on-stop ticket machines. Use our ticket finder to help make the right ticket choice for you.

St Peter's Square and Piccadilly (the two stops closest to the venue) are in Zone 1.


If you are intending to catch a bus to or from Manchester Aquatics Centre, the following commercial bus services stop at the bus stop adjacent to the venue on Oxford Road:
15, 18 Langley to the MRI, 41, 42, 42A, 42B, 42C, 43, 44, 111, 142, 143, 147, 191, 197, V1 Leigh to the MRI, V2.

The services below stop on Upper Brook Street (bus stops shown on the map at the top of this page):
50, 51, 53, 751.

Tickets

Get on board a bus with simple and clear low bus fares.

Adults will pay no more than £2 for a single bus journey, while a £5 1 day AnyBus Adult travelcard will cover unlimited bus travel within the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester until 3.59am the following day.

Manchester Aquatics Centre is located just off Oxford Road.

However, this area of Oxford Road is only open to buses, black cabs and pedal cycles from 6am to 9pm every day.

If you enter a bus lane or use a bus gate on Oxford Road, you may get a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) of £60, which will reduce to £30 if you pay within 21 days.

We therefore strongly recommend using public transport to travel to the venue.

If you need to travel by car, exit the Mancunian Way at the Cambridge Street Junction onto Higher Cambridge Street, a left turn onto Booth Street West turns into Booth Street East, where the venue's car park is located.

Cycling

Manchester Aquatics Centre has space for the storage of up to 10 bikes. For more information, please see the venue's website.

There are also numerous Sheffield Stands located on Oxford Road, close to the venue.

Greater Manchester now offers the option to hire bikes. Through the Beryl app, you can locate and unlock your bike, get from A to B, then safely lock your hired bike up again. Walking

If walking for a full or partial journey is something that interests you, you can beat the queues, see more of your city and make a positive choice for the environment by walking.

On 5 January 2025, the remaining bus services in Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and parts of Manchester and Salford will join the Bee Network.

Accessibility on Metrolink

Metrolink is a modern system with a range of accessibility features. All Metrolink trams and tram stops are accessible for wheelchair users.

Accessibility on the bus

Many buses have ramps and can accommodate wheelchairs. Some new buses also have display screens, route numbers, destination displays and audio-visual ‘next stop’ announcements.

A lot of bus operators have low floor buses to make it easier for people who use wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and those with small children and pushchairs.
