Easter Bank Holiday tram works

Friday 3 - Monday 6 April

From Friday 3 to Monday 6 April, tram improvement works will take place at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar.

During this time, the following changes will be in place across the network:

No trams will operate on the Eccles, Trafford Centre and Altrincham lines
Services operating on the East Didsbury/Manchester Airport lines will terminate at Firswood.
Services operating on the Rochdale/Shaw & Crompton lines will terminate at Exchange Square.
Other tram service changes include: Bury - Ashton-under-Lyne, Bury/Victoria - Etihad Campus.

Replacement buses will operate between the affected stops. See below for more information.

Tram services will resume from start of service on Tuesday 7 April.

Tram services will operate every 15 minutes:

Bury - Ashton-under-Lyne
Bury - Etihad Campus (peak times only)
Victoria - Etihad Campus (peak times only)

Travelling on the Altrincham line

On Friday, Saturday and Monday, two rail replacement bus services will operate between Altrincham and Manchester city centre every 15 minutes.

From Altrincham, both services will serve all stops along the Altrincham line, with one service terminating at Piccadilly, whilst another service will run to Victoria.

On Sunday only, one rail replacement bus will operate between Altrincham and Piccadilly.

From stops on the Altrincham line, please board either replacement bus [towards Victoria or Piccadilly]. Alight at Piccadilly Gardens for tram services towards Bury.

Travelling to Ashton-under-Lyne:

From stops on the Altrincham line, please board the replacement bus service to Piccadilly. Alight here for tram services towards Etihad Campus and Ashton-under-Lyne.

Travelling to East Didsbury/Manchester Airport:

From stops on the Altrincham line, please board the replacement bus service to Trafford Bar. Change here for another replacement bus to Chorlton.

Please note: The 281 will not operate on Friday, Sunday or Monday.

Travelling in the city centre

On Friday, Saturday and Monday there will be four replacement buses operating in the city centre every 15 minutes.

There will be three replacement bus services operating between Deansgate and Piccadilly, travelling via Piccadilly Gardens. With another travelling between Victoria and Deansgate via Piccadilly Gardens and Shudehill.

On Sunday, there will be three replacement buses operating in the city centre every 15 minutes.

There will be two replacement bus services operating between Deansgate and Piccadilly travelling via Piccadilly Gardens. With another travelling between Victoria and Deansgate via Piccadilly Gardens and Shudehill.

Continuing your journey

There will be no tram service will serve Cornbrook, Deansgate and St Peters Square tram stops. However, all replacement buses will serve these stops to keep customers connected.

If your travelling towards Deansgate, board a replacement bus travelling towards Eccles, Chorlton or Altrincham.

You can use the fully wheelchair accessible free bus 1 and 2 services to get around the city centre during these works. No ticket is needed.

Cycle hire

Greater Manchester now offers the option to hire bikes. Through the Beryl app, you can locate and unlock your bike, get from A to B, then safely lock your hired bike up again - easy!
