Manchester Pride Weekend

Friday 28 - Monday 31 August 2026

Manchester Pride returns to the city centre streets from Friday 28 to Monday 31 August. Manchester's most colourful celebration will see four days of music, live performances and entertainment events taking place all over the city, including the annual pride parade which will take place at 12pm on Saturday 29 August.

Key travel advice

Road closures and bus diversions will be taking place over the weekend, to allow the parade and Village Pride to take place.
Multiple other events are happening across Greater Manchester over the course of August bank holiday weekend; tram services and roads in and out of the city centre may be particularly busy. Please allow plenty of extra time for your journeys.
For those travelling for the Pride Parade or Village Pride, the event sites can be easily reached by public transport, with tram stops and Bee Network bus routes located nearby.

Pride Parade

On Saturday 29 August, the annual Pride parade will return to the streets of Manchester city centre, celebrating history and culture of the region's LGBTQ+ communities.

The parade will start it's route at midday, beginning at Liverpool Street and travelling down Deansgate, Peter Street, Oxford Street, Portland Street and Whitworth Street, before finishing in The Village, at around 4pm.

To allow the parade to take place, road closures and bus diversions will be in place in the city centre. Road closures will in place on Saturday, to allow for the set up and build down of the parade.

Travel by tram

Metrolink tram services are likely to be busier than usual as people make their way to the events taking place in the city centre.

The nearest stops for Pride weekend are:

Gay Village Party: Piccadilly and Piccadilly Gardens.
Pride Parade: Deansgate-Castlefield and St Peter's Square

Tickets

Beat the queue at the machines and touch-in and out at the on-stop machines using contactless. Save money and travel with the family using our family travelcard. All events in the city centre are located in zone 1. You can find tram ticket prices for each zone with our ticketing webpage.

Park and Ride

If you have to drive, did you know that there are 24 Park and Ride sites in Greater Manchester, where you can park your car for free and hop on the tram to your destination? Below are our recommendations of which locations to use, depending on your journey:

From the north:

Radcliffe (Bury line) - 480 spaces and 22 disabled spaces.
Whitefield (Bury line) - 331 spaces and 13 disabled spaces.
Derker (Rochdale line) - 235 spaces and 16 disabled spaces.

From the east:

Ashton West (Ashton line) - 184 spaces and 11 disabled spaces.
Ashton Moss (Ashton line) - 183 spaces and 12 disabled spaces.

From the south:

East Didsbury (East Didsbury line) - 278 spaces and 18 disabled spaces.
Sale Water Park (Airport line) - 285 spaces and 16 disabled spaces.

From the west:

Parkway (Trafford Park line) - 341 parking spaces and 19 disabled spaces.

Travel by bus

The Village party and Pride parade can be easily reached by Bee Network bus.

Travelling to and from Piccadilly Gardens:

Piccadilly Gardens is the your destination bus hub for the city centre and is in close walking distance from events taking place.

Travelling to and from Shudehill Interchange:

Shudehill Interchange is approximately a 15-minute walk towards Piccadilly and Deansgate where events are taking place.

Some services stop at multiple stops/areas within the city centre. Journey times could also be impacted due to the increased levels of traffic and road closures in place, so be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time for your travel.

Tickets

Get on board a bus with simple and clear low bus fares.

Adults will pay no more than £2 for a single bus journey, while a £5 1-day AnyBus Adult travelcard will cover unlimited bus travel within the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester until 3.59am the following day. Child prices are £1 for a single bus journey or £2.50 for an AnyBus travelcard.

To allow Manchester Pride to take place, some bus routes via the city centre will be on diversion.

Travel by train

For those looking to travel by train, there are multiple train stations located within the city centre where you can continue your journey via tram or on foot. The following stations are:

Lots of events are taking place in Manchester City Centre over the bank holiday weekend, so please check before you travel by visiting the National Rail website.

Travel by car

With closures in place and city centre roads likely to be very busy, we advise avoiding driving into the city centre if possible.

Why not consider using public transport or travelling by foot or bike to complete your journeys into the city centre on Saturday 29 August?

Car parking

Park on the same side of the city as your route if you can. Driving across the city can add additional time to your journey, so if it’s an option for you, park in a car park closest to your route out of the city centre. View a map of the city centre car parks.

The following parking suspensions will be in place from 6am to 6pm on Saturday 29 August.

Liverpool Road (Water Street to Deansgate)
Deansgate (Liverpool Road to Peter Street)
Peter Street (Deansgate to Oxford Street)
Oxford Street (Peter Street to Portland Street)
Portland Street (Peter Street to Princess Street)
Princess Street (Portland Street to Whitworth Street)
Whitworth Street (Oxford Street to Fairfield Street)
Fairfield Street (Whitworth Street to London Road)
Ebden Street (Minshull Street to Back Acton Street)
Back Acton Street (Fairfield Street to Granby Row)

To allow Pride 2026 to take place, road closures will be in place in the city centre.

The following roads will be closed between 6am - 7pm on Saturday 29 August:

Liverpool Road from Water Street to Deansgate
Wollam Place from 30m South of Liverpool Road to Liverpool Road
Potato Wharf from Castlefield Hotel Entrance to Liverpool Road
Old Medlock Street, all of Old Medlock Street will be closed
Lower Byrom Street from 40m North of Liverpool Road to Liverpool Road
Duke Street from Rice Street to Liverpool Road
Stone Street from Liverpool Road to Bridgewater Street
Barton Street from Worsley Street to Tonman Street
Southern Street from 20m South of Liverpool Road to Liverpool Road

Cycling and walking

Getting to the Pride parade couldn't be easier! Reaching the assembly area on Liverpool Street at the junction with Deansgate takes only 15-minute by foot from The Village.

Accessibility on Metrolink

Metrolink is a modern system with a range of accessibility features. All Metrolink trams and tram stops are accessible for wheelchair users.

Every tram stop has:

Step-free access for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs
CCTV and emergency call-points
platforms with tactile edges for visually impaired passengers.

Accessibility on the bus

Many buses have ramps and can accommodate wheelchairs. Some new buses also have display screens, route numbers, destination displays and audio-visual ‘next stop’ announcements.

A lot of bus operators have low floor buses to make it easier for people who use wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and those with small children and pushchairs.
