Travel included on tram and shuttle buses for ticket holders

Travel on Metrolink and new city centre shuttle buses are included with all arena event tickets from 20 April to 30 June 2024.

Here's our tips for travelling with ease on event day:

  • Make sure that you have your valid event ticket with you and ready to show Bee Network staff, if asked to whilst travelling.
  • Plan your journey to the Co-op Live Arena - either by tram or using one of the new city centre shuttle buses.
  • Your ticket is only valid on journeys four hours before and four hours after the event.
  • You can use your ticket across all Metrolink zones.
  • There will be trams to get you home after your event. Find last tram times.
  • Shuttle buses will run from Joe Mercer Way at the Etihad Campus back to Piccadilly Gardens, after the event.
  • Travel on commercial bus services is not included as part of your ticket.

Travel advice

The Co-op Live Arena is a 25-minute walk from the heart of Manchester. From Piccadilly Station, a step-free walking route (also marked on maps as 'CityLink') is clearly signposted through Manchester’s Ancoats and New Islington areas. The route is well lit, and helpers will be available on show days to provide support and directions.

If you cycle via Merrill Street then onto the CityLink by Holt Town tram stop, it takes just 10 minutes. When you get to the Co-op Live Arena, there are over 500 cycle parking spaces on the Etihad Campus.

Tram travel is included in your event ticket and is valid four hours before and four hours after the end of the show on the day of the performance. There's more information about this in the 'travel included on tram and shuttle buses for ticket holders' section above.

The venue is located directly next to Etihad Campus tram stop and is served by the Ashton-under-Lyne to Eccles service every day.

The Etihad Campus stop is also served by the MediaCityUK to Etihad Campus service Monday-Saturday during peak hours, and the Altrincham to Etihad Campus service Monday-Saturday after peak hours and all-day Sunday.

There will be trams to get you home after your event. Find last tram times.

For more information, take a look at the tram network map.

Metrolink are constantly improving the network for customers. Make sure you check the Metrolink planned improvements webpage before you travel to see if any works will affect your route.

Park and ride

If you have to drive, did you know that there are 24 park and ride sites in Greater Manchester, where you can park your car for free and hop on the tram to your destination? The nearest park and ride sites to the Co-op Live Arena are:

  • Ashton Moss (Ashton line) - 183 spaces and 12 disabled spaces. Postcode for sat navs: OL6 7UB
  • Ashton West (Ashton line) - 184 spaces and 11 disabled spaces. Postcode for sat navs: OL7 0PG
  • Ladywell (Ashton-Eccles line) - 332 spaces and 22 disabled spaces. Postcode for sat navs: M50 1AW

Just to let you know, the park and ride car parks are closed overnight, so you won't be able to leave your car in the car park and return to it the next day. Closing time for each car park varies, so please check each dedicated park and ride webpage (as linked above) for more information. We make sure that there is plenty of time to return to your vehicle before each park and ride site closes.

In the event that the Ashton park and ride site is full, nearby additional parking can be found at Ashton West park and ride located to the rear of Ashton Leisure Park. Parking is not permitted on Alexandria Drive or Rayner Lane.

In addition, any cars parked outside the Ashton West park and ride site will be liable to enforcement by Ashton Leisure Park’s parking operator.

City centre shuttle bus (travel included with event ticket)

If you're heading back into Manchester city centre after your event, there will be a shuttle bus service from Joe Mercer Way at the Etihad Campus back to Piccadilly Gardens.

The number of shuttle buses available will vary from event to event, with a maximum of ten buses per show.

This is included as part of a valid event ticket, and you my need to present your ticket upon request.

Travel on commercial bus services is not included as part of your ticket. To find out which ticket will be the right one for you, why let our ticket finder give you a helping hand?

If you are intending to catch a bus to or from the Co-op Live Arena, the following commercial bus services will bring you closest to the venue:

Along Alan Turing Way - a 2-minute walk from the venue

Along Ashton New Road - a 10-minute walk from the venue

Along Oldham Road - a 20-minute walk from the venue

Along Ashton Old Road - a 20-minute walk from the venue

You can see the nearest stops to the ground with our dedicated map.

With some of the services listed above saying 'yellow' to the Bee Network, you can stay up to date with any changes to your bus by visiting our Bee Network bus services webpage.

Journey times could also be impacted due to the increased levels of traffic, so be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time for your travel.

For more information, you can search your bus service and select your stop on the TfGM website or check with your bus operator before travelling.

Roads around the arena

Congestion on the roads close to the Etihad Campus will start to build from around 2 hours before each concert as event-goers begin to arrive. This includes roads such as the Mancunian Way, Alan Turing Way and Ashton Old Road. If you have to drive, please make sure that you plan your route before you travel, adding in extra time, if needed.

Please be aware that travel times may vary dependent on a variety of factors including whether it is an evening or weekend concert and whether there is also a Manchester City match being played. We will continue to update this webpage as our knowledge of journey times develops.

Don't forget that you can download the Bee Network app from your App Store and use our own journey planner to help you get from A to Bee.

Driving from the M60

If you have to drive, we recommend parking at one of 24 tram park and ride sites in Greater Manchester, rather than driving into the city centre.

For those with a valid event ticket, travelling by tram (also known as Metrolink) after you've parked your vehicle will be included as part of the integrated travel initiative. For more information, please see the integrated travel section above.

We've recommended a few park and ride sites below, but you can also visit our journey planner to plan your own route.

On Saturday 4 May there is also a football match at the Etihad, with kick off at 5.30pm. This will significantly impact journey times to the venue.

To ensure you can have the best experience and enjoy the concert, we are strongly advising Olivia Rodrigo fans to arrive between 5.30pm and 7pm.

Whether you are taking the tram, bus or being dropped off at the venue, we’ve put together our latest travel advice below to help get you where you need to be.

Getting there by tram

Metrolink will be very busy on the Ashton Line due to the football match at the Etihad. If you are heading to the Co-op Live, we advise you to avoid travel between 3.30pm to 5pm and 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Dropping off and picking up

Pick-up and drop-off points near the Co-op Live will be extremely busy between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, and then between 7.15pm and 8.15pm, so we are strongly advising to not use the points during these times. This is based on when we expect Manchester City football fans to arrive and leave the Etihad.

In order to ensure the safe movement of the large number of pedestrians after the match, there will also be road closures in place around the venue.

Getting there by car

There is very limited parking available on-site. Please book in advance otherwise you risk being turned away and, with the football also taking place, there will be severely reduced parking nearby. Visit the Co-op Live website to book your parking.

You can save time by leaving your car at one of our 24 park and ride sites, or using one of the city centre car parks and then walking or taking the tram.
